Project Search

Project Search

In collaboration with schools and local businesses, Project SEARCH provides real-world, on-site work experience combined with employability training and independent-living skills to high school students with disabilities toward the goal of successfully transitioning to a lifetime of productivity. Under the ongoing mentorship of our Work-Ready Specialist, the students acquire competitive, marketable, and transferable skills equipping them to secure a related, permanent position. Our Work-Ready Specialists help students build the communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills necessary to thrive in the marketplace.

In addition, the presence of a Project SEARCH program can bring about long-term changes in business culture that have far-reaching positive effects on attitudes about hiring people with disabilities and the range of jobs in which they can be successful. Once our Project SEARCH students complete their internship, the specialist follows up for a minimum of 90 days and up to a full year, ensuring that both our interns and employers have an exceptional experience. All training occurs in the context of the student’s school day while earning high school credit, but the rewards extend far beyond graduation.
